PLÁCIDO CIDADE NUVENS
He was born in Santana do Cariri, state of Ceará, where he performed his first studies in the schools gathered of the state network and the Externato Lazolite Queiroz, where he completed the primary course. He then went to study in Crato, in the Seminary of São José, sowing of scholars that radiates culture and spreads the knowledge even today by the four corners of the northeast. In Crato, the first and second grades were completed. He then studied in Fortaleza, where he attended philosophy at the Seminário da Prainha. Attentive and devoted to studies, Plácido was contemplated with scholarships, continuing his intellectual formation in Rome, Italy, where he attended theology and sociology at the Gregorian University of the Jesuit priests and obtained the title of Doctor in Thomas Aquinas University of the Dominicans. Specialist in Superior Portuguese from the University of Lisbon. A sociologist with a doctorate in social sciences from Pontificia Università San Tommaso D'Aquino (1973). Returning to Brazil he joined the work of the Fundação padre Ibiapina, the social arm of the Diocese of Crato, with remarkable work of rural extension, organization of workers and intensive training of the workforce. However, he did not move away from intellectual tens. Since then, he has taught in the course of law (Introduction to Philosophy, General sociology, sociology of law), having taught the same disciplines in the pedagogy courses (sociology of education) and history. He was the coordinator of the Law course and director of the Center of Applied Social Studies. He served as course coordinator, and director of the Science and Technology Center of the Universidade Regional do Cariri, having participated actively in the creation of the mathematics and production engineering courses, linked to the CCT.
He was a member of the board of administration of Funcap (2001-2003). He works in social research and on the following topics: Araripe Plateau, fossil, Araripe Basin, paleontology. He was honored by paleontologists with the inclusion of his name the description of Fosseis. He was also vice-principal of URCA in the management of Violeta Arraes (1996-2003), and rector (2007-2011), this function became a member of the State Council of Science, Technology and Innovation (CECT&I) created in plenary on November 14, 2007 by the Legislative Assembly of the Ceará State. He currently holds the role of general Coordinator of the Museum of Paleontology of Santana do Cariri.
From 1983 to 1988 was mayor of Santana do Cariri, where he held an administration applauding by everyone for the sense of organization, operosity and transparency, realizing the basic sanitation and rationalizing the urbanization of the city and sowing schools and qualifying teachers. In the cultural sector, he supported folklore and popular culture, created the music band and the Museum of Paleontology, which through the lease agreement, transferred to URCA in 1988.
The fruit of the effort for the dissemination of paleontological science and objectification of the awakening of interest for a theme so linked to the region and still so little diffused among us, is the book Pedras de Peixe de Santana. Also having other published works such as: Evolution of the Church in Brazil – sociological approach; Historical synopsis of Santana do Cariri; Padre Cristiano Coelho – Pastoral profile of a vicar Sertanejo; Patativa do Assaré, a classic; Patativa and the fascinating universe of Sertão and 60 years in the town hall of Santana do Cariri from 1947 to 2007.
On November 01, 2016 Santana do Cariri loses one of his most illustrious children. Plácido Cidade Nuvens dies at 73 years old
